World-renowned film and television special effects company WETA Workshop recently announced a stunning new environment statue from "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," bringing the magnificent Pillars of the Kings, "Argonath," to life! This limited-edition piece is currently available for pre-order on the WETA website, with an estimated shipping date of September 2022.
The Argonath are two colossal statues carved by the Numenoreans during the Second Age. Geographically, they stand on the banks of the Anduin River, roughly at the border between Rohan and Gondor, serving as a majestic marker for Gondor's northern frontier. In the film, the Fellowship of the Ring paddles south from the Golden Wood of Lothlórien, passing directly between the Argonath in a truly spectacular scene.
WETA Workshop has masterfully condensed the Argonath and its surrounding environment into a highly detailed statue, standing approximately 34 cm tall. Faithfully recreating the film's depiction, the statue features the two colossal figures with their left hands extended. The left statue represents Isildur, wielding an axe, while the right depicts Elendil, gripping the holy sword Narsil. The exquisite sculpting technique realistically captures the rock texture of the giants and the weathered marks of ages. The surrounding environment is equally meticulous, creating an incredibly lifelike natural setting with stone stairs and a flowing river. A closer look even reveals the tiny boats carrying the Fellowship, powerfully conveying the Argonath's immense scale and grandeur!
