Another 40th Anniversary item is on the way! BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division is set to release a special 40th Anniversary Edition set for its "HI-METAL R" robot action figure series in April 2022. This commemorative release features the Soltic H8 Roundfacer unit and the ARMC-Instead 8-wheeled armored car from the classic robot anime "Fang of the Sun Dougram"!
"Fang of the Sun Dougram" (太陽の牙ダグラム), directed by Ryosuke Takahashi and produced by Japan's Sunrise Inc., is a robot anime that premiered on TV Tokyo in 1981, running for 75 episodes. A key distinguishing feature of the series is its non-binary narrative, eschewing clear-cut good versus evil for a conflict driven by differing stances and beliefs. Renowned mechanical designer Kunio Okawara was responsible for the mecha designs. The series holds the second-highest viewership ratings in the history of robot anime.
Following the previous Dougram release, this HI-METAL R 40th Anniversary Edition "Soltic H8 Roundfacer" (ソルティックH8 ラウンドフェイサー) also comes as a set with the ARMC-Instead 8-wheeled armored car. While previous versions in the series were blue, this new release features a deep green paint scheme, giving it a distinctly fresh look.
Articulation remains consistent with the original release, and the cockpit canopy can be opened. Accessories include two to three sets of interchangeable hands, a missile launcher, a rifle, and a spare antenna. The set also includes two armored cars, with swappable accessories such as a recoil cannon, a large missile launcher, and a 15-tube missile launcher, offering a rich array of display options.
