“Better to Donate Blood Than Suck It!” Morbius-Themed Blood Drive Kicks Off, Jared Leto on the Challenges of Playing the "Dark Legend"

Sony Pictures' dark legend film "Morbius," part of the Marvel Hero Universe, delves into the story of Dr. Michael Morbius, portrayed by Jared Leto. Suffering from a rare blood disease, Morbius experiments on himself in a desperate attempt to find a cure for both himself and others afflicted with the same incurable condition. His efforts, however, transform him into a bloodthirsty dark hero. To promote the film, Sony Pictures partnered with the Taipei Blood Center of the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation to launch a limited-time "Morbius Bloodmobile." The vehicle was fully wrapped with the highly anticipated half-man, half-beast visual of Marvel's Morbius, an eye-catching and creative design that drew many onlookers to stop and take photos. The Morbius Bloodmobile championed the message: "Better to donate blood than suck it!" From now until May 15th, between 1 PM and 9 PM, individuals who donate blood at the Emei and Xionglong Bloodmobiles in Ximending will have the chance to receive exclusive limited-edition Morbius masks or Morbius blood bag hand sanitizer!

Liu Chun-hung, Section Chief of the Planning Department at the Taipei Blood Center of the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm: "We are delighted to collaborate with Sony Pictures this time. By leveraging a film and character popular with young people, we aim to attract the public to participate in charity and encourage more enthusiastic youth to donate blood!" Lin Chin-hsiu, Senior Marketing Manager at Sony Pictures, added: "In the film 'Morbius,' the protagonist himself suffers from a blood disease and hopes to cure others with the same condition. Sony Pictures also hopes to encourage fans to show the same passion as Morbius, roll up their sleeves, and donate blood for charity, as one bag of blood can save a life!"

Jared Leto revealed his deep attraction to the character of Morbius, particularly the challenge of portraying his extraordinary transformation after becoming a vampire. "I like that Morbius, despite his physical frailty, possesses great ambitions and ideals," Leto explained. "But after finding a cure, he becomes powerful, yet things don't unfold as he expected. There's so much to explore with this character!" Director Daniel Espinosa also commented: "Throughout the film, I needed Morbius to accept that he is still human, to utilize his superpowers, and to discover more of his own strength."

The film "Morbius" was released on April 1st, with a global simultaneous debut.
