Japanese company Bushiroad Creative's capsule toy brand, TAMA-KYU, is set to release a new animal-themed gashapon series in April 2022: "Gottsuan Bird" (ごっつぁんバード)! A heavyweight duel is about to begin.
This "Gottsuan Bird" capsule toy series anthropomorphizes various birds, combining them with the massive physique of a sumo wrestler. Made from PVC, these approximately 3.5 cm tall figures depict chubby bird combatants standing on two feet. Beyond the detailed feather sculpts, the gradient paintwork on their plumage is excellent. The addition of a sumo mawashi (loincloth) makes them incredibly cute! The lineup features a total of six types: a yellow and green Parakeet-zeki, a blue and white Parakeet-zeki, an Owl-zeki, a Crow-zeki, a Pigeon-zeki, and a Hawk-zeki. It's worth noting that the Hawk is wearing a "keshō-mawashi," the ornate ceremonial apron worn by high-ranking wrestlers during their ring-entering ceremony. Every single one is absolutely adorable!
