Bandai Candy, Bandai's popular Shokugan division, has officially announced that the previously teased new entry in the "Brave Series" for their SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT (SMP) ALTERNATIVE DESTINY sub-line, "SMP ALTERNATIVE DESTINY King Exkaiser," is scheduled for release in September 2022.
The SMP ALTERNATIVE DESTINY series features renowned mechanical designer Miyauchi Toshinao (Garyu Mauso Sen), known for his work on "SD Gundam World," as the prototype sculptor. He reinterprets classic robots from Japanese animation using digital sculpting techniques, imbuing them with high-density details that diverge from their original designs. This approach adds numerous panel lines, intricate layering, and exposed internal structures to the typically smooth armor, resulting in a visually sharper and more aggressive aesthetic. This particular Brave Exkaiser release is a formal commercialization based on a garage kit Miyauchi Toshinao created in 2018.
The "SMP ALTERNATIVE DESTINY King Exkaiser" stands approximately 14 cm tall upon completion. Its design retains the original character's essence while reinterpreting the head-to-body proportions to appeal to modern tastes. Extensive chamfered designs give the armor a robust, heavy feel. The articulation joints are engineered by T-REX, allowing collectors to pose the Brave robot in dynamic, powerful battle stances. The head sculpt is also expected to feature pre-painted parts for accurate color reproduction.
For weaponry, the figure faithfully recreates the sword hilt stored within the leg armor and includes two versions of the Kaiser Sword. In addition to a normally proportioned blade, a massive oversized version is included to achieve dramatic forced-perspective poses, perfect for recreating iconic Brave Series action. Furthermore, "King Exkaiser" can combine with the separately sold "Dragon Jet & Super Giant Combination Set" to achieve its ultimate form, Great Exkaiser!
