Bandai Candy's popular SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT (SMP) branch, SMP ALTERNATIVE DESTINY, has just announced two new releases from the classic anime "Brave Exkaiser": the "King Exkaiser" and the "Dragon Jet & Great Combination Set," both slated for a September 2022 release.
The SMP ALTERNATIVE DESTINY line features prototypes sculpted by renowned mechanical designer Toshinao Miyauchi (GARYUMU SOSHEN), known for his work on "SD Gundam World." Using digital sculpting, the series reimagines classic anime robots with a modern, high-detail aesthetic that deviates from the original designs. Smooth armor is enhanced with extensive panel lining, layered parts, and exposed inner frames for a much sharper visual impact. This "Brave Exkaiser" release is an official commercialization based on Miyauchi's own garage kit from 2018.
The "SMP ALTERNATIVE DESTINY Dragon Jet & Great Combination Set" includes the Dragon Jet vehicle itself, along with numerous parts needed to form the mighty Great Exkaiser. The Dragon Jet's design is a significant update from the original, resembling a modern fighter jet with tight, seamless part construction. An included dedicated stand allows for dynamic flight poses and can also be used to display King Exkaiser riding atop the jet.
By disassembling the Dragon Jet, its components can combine with the separately sold King Exkaiser to perform the Great Combination! Using the included dedicated head part, you can form the incredibly imposing Great Exkaiser! The set comes with the Dragon Archery and Great Kaiser Sword accessories for recreating intense battle scenes. The Great Kaiser Sword even includes two versions: a standard-sized blade and a massive, perspective-enhanced version for dynamic posing that measures an incredible 42cm (approx. 16.5 inches) in length!
Furthermore, the set includes a special set of clear parts. By attaching these to King Exkaiser first, you can then mount the disassembled Dragon Jet armor pieces to recreate the iconic sequence where the components float into position just moments before docking!
