The Japanese brand MECHA SMILE's 'MODEROID' plastic model kit series today unveiled for the first time the painted prototype of its latest product, "Combined Rune God Rayearth," from the anime Magic Knight Rayearth. The release date is yet to be determined.
Combined Rune God Rayearth is the legendary Rune God that fought alongside the protagonists Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji in the series. It is the combined form of Rune God Rayearth (Fire), Rune God Ceres (Sea), and Rune God Windam (Sky). Not only does its appearance fuse the characteristics of the three Rune Gods, but it also unifies their immense elemental magical powers, allowing it to unleash the incredibly powerful special attack "Spiral Flash."
The newly revealed "MODEROID Combined Rune God Rayearth" was sculpted by the same prototype artist, Aran Moriguchi, who worked on the previous three Rune Gods. The painted prototype shows no significant differences compared to the previously released CG images and gray models. It boasts a cool 18 cm tall design with a tall, slender proportion and armor lines that resemble mechanical structures. The wings, however, are a continuous and regular feather shape, which might appear a bit stiff. The jewels throughout the body are made of clear material, and it comes with its dedicated sword and shield armaments. However, the articulation joint design appears somewhat standard; in addition to the basic neck, chest, waist, and limb joints, the two pairs of wings on the back and the tail also feature articulation near their bases.
