The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co. today announced the latest product from the manga "New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Dual Story: G-UNIT," the "HG 1/144 Gundam L.O. Booster," scheduled for release in October 2022. This product from the 1/144 scale Gunpla "HG (High Grade)" series, known for its most diverse range of mobile suits, will be sold exclusively on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The Gundam L.O. Booster is a mobile suit repaired and enhanced from the battle-damaged Gundam Geminass 01. Its name is an acronym for "LINER OFFENSE-BOOSTER." Based on the original G-UNIT system, numerous armaments have been added to enhance its performance severalfold. Small reactors are built into both shoulders, significantly boosting the mobile suit's output. This allows it to power a pair of large thrusters on its back, auxiliary thrusters on its legs, and two "Propulsion Beam Cannons" connected to the reactors. Furthermore, it can transform into a high-speed flight form via a simple transformation mechanism, greatly enhancing its mobility and firepower.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam L.O. Booster" is modeled based on the newly designed form by mechanical designer Junichi Akutsu. While some parts are reused from the previously released Gundam Geminass 01, new molds are utilized to recreate the head, chest, reactor units, various thrusters, and Propulsion Beam Cannons. The shoulder and back parts feature multiple rotation and deployment mechanisms. It also includes high-output beam effect parts to recreate the firing state of the Propulsion Beam Cannons.
This kit also features a simple transformation mechanism. The legs are equipped with knee joint rotation axes and deployable claw mechanisms for the feet, allowing it to recreate the high-speed flight form without needing to swap parts. Weapons include a beam saber and a "Lightweight Accelerator Submachine Gun" made with new parts, which can recreate the mechanism of its barrel extending forward.
