Following popular Studio Ghibli products like the Airship Tiger Moth and Castle in the Sky Robot Soldier, Japanese assembly model manufacturer Fine Molds (ファインモールド) has, after a long hiatus, newly developed the "vignette collection" series. The first release is the "No.1 Porco Rosso Porco's Hideout GV1" (tentative translation, アジトのポルコ) 1/35 scale assembly model, with a suggested retail price of 4,180 JPY, scheduled for release in March 2023.
Commemorating the 30th anniversary of Studio Ghibli's animated film "Porco Rosso," the "Fine Molds Porco Rosso Porco's Secret Base" assembly model aims to faithfully recreate scenes from the film and vividly portray the character. In collaboration with veteran model manufacturer Kaiyodo, and with sculptor Masahiko Kagawa handling the prototype production, it recreates the scene where Porco lives alone on a small island, answers a phone call on his lounge chair, and receives notification of air pirates. Dressed in his iconic flight cap and flight suit, he is ready for action! The size is approximately 15 cm, and self-assembly and painting are required.
