Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection PC Version - Drake Returns After Years, Naughty Dog's Final Ripple

Following the release of titles like "Marvel's Spider-Man" and "Horizon Zero Dawn" on PC, the "Uncharted" series, renowned for its cinematic presentation and outstanding action, has officially arrived on the PC platform.

The upcoming PC release is "Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection," which bundles "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" and its standalone expansion "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy." Not only has it been optimized for PC GPUs and VRAM, but it also includes new special support features specifically for the PC version. Let's take a look at how "Uncharted" performs on its PC re-debut through a simple hands-on review!

Speaking of the PC version, the first thing to mention is, of course, the graphical enhancements. In the PS5 version, due to rendering limitations, players essentially had to choose between fluidity and visual fidelity. It was either 4K at 30FPS or 1080P at 120FPS, and while a variable performance mode was supported, it still couldn't fully unleash the game's maximum potential. This is not the case with the PC version; not only are there many more adjustable settings, but the GPU and VRAM optimizations for PC also make it easier to achieve your desired visual experience.

For this review, I experienced the game entirely in 4K at 60FPS, fully appreciating the silky-smooth sensation of maxed-out performance at high resolution. While the game's particle effects and lighting are clearly products of the previous generation, whether it's sliding down slopes, climbing, or watching cutscenes, it feels as exhilarating as watching an IMAX movie. Although the loading speed isn't quite as fast as the PS5's high-speed SSD, it's not significantly slower except for the initial load. This is precisely what investing so much in a PC is for!

Regarding controls, since this is inherently a TPS game, the keyboard and mouse controls are quite excellent. Not only are the climbing and shooting mechanics superb, but adjusting weapon zoom and throwing grenades also feels significantly more intuitive. The previously somewhat challenging car controls now include driving assists, which is a definite improvement over my experience playing on PS4. PC players can transition seamlessly.

Furthermore, the game also supports the PS5 DualSense controller, including the enhanced haptic feedback present in the PS5 version. PS5 owners should definitely plug it in and experience the difference in gun recoil and rope swinging!

Having discussed the hardware aspects, let's move on to the game itself. This title can be considered the pinnacle of the "Uncharted" series. Not only does it masterfully employ cinematic camera work, but its gameplay is also top-tier. Here, you can experience ingenious puzzles and the core platforming gameplay that defines the Uncharted series. Although this title doesn't feature co-op, the inclusion of Nathan's brother, Sam, allows for a taste of cooperative fun. Its impressive sales of over 15 million units for a single title attest to its platinum value.

Furthermore, if you've seen the movie adaptation starring Tom Holland, you'll undoubtedly find many similar sequences in this game, such as the sword fight at the end and the auction house scene, which actually originated from this fourth installment. We highly recommend that players who haven't experienced it yet give it a try.

In conclusion, with this PC version, one can once again appreciate that Naughty Dog's "Uncharted" was indeed a masterpiece ahead of its time. Not only are the enhanced graphics impressive, but they also stand up well against recent AAA titles. The stability is also significantly better than some of the earlier PC ports, a testament to Iron Galaxy's considerable skill in porting. We highly recommend this title to all players who missed out on the series during the PlayStation era. We believe that after playing it, you'll understand why "Uncharted" was so highly acclaimed back then!
