BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s TAMASHII NATIONS collector's toy division, under its popular die-cast toy series 『METAL BUILD』, has officially announced today the commemorative product 「Laevatein Dedicated XL-3 Emergency Deployment Booster Option Set」 for release in November 2023, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the light novel "Full Metal Panic!".
In the original story, the 「Emergency Deployment Booster」 is a special operations equipment designed to enable land-based AS (Arm Slaves) to fly in the air and rapidly deploy multiple weapons to forcefully penetrate operational targets. However, when the Laevatein was completed, only the older "XL-2" model, compatible with the M9 and Arbalest, was available. Therefore, the maintenance crew urgently modified two XL-2 units within two months to create the XL-3. Although somewhat unstable, it effectively allowed the Laevatein to transport a full complement of equipment, including the 165mm Multi-Purpose Demolition Howitzer, 20mm Gatling Cannon, air-to-air missiles, and more.
The 「Laevatein Dedicated XL-3 Emergency Deployment Booster Option Set」 features ultra-high-density intricate details, a cool gray-tone paint scheme, and fuselage markings. The nozzles of the rear jet turbine engines are finished with a gradient metallic coating to reproduce a vivid burnt effect, significantly enhancing realism. When combined with the separately sold various versions of "METAL BUILD Laevatein", it can recreate the flight form from the final battle!
The accessory parts include weapons such as a 20mm Gatling Cannon, air-to-air missiles, a 76mm Shotgun, a 40mm Rifle, and various magazines. It also comes with a wealth of parts including a maintenance stand with storage and display functions, replacement fuel tanks, and a female mechanic figure. When combined with the separately sold "METAL BUILD Laevatein Arbalest Color Version", it can create an impressive maintenance scene.
