BellFine Co., Ltd. (株式会社ベルファイン), a Japanese company, is releasing the "SoftB Space Invaders CRAB" soft vinyl figure as part of its "Soft B" series, based on the classic arcade game "Space Invaders". The suggested retail price is 12,980 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in August 2023.
Designed by Mr. Tomohiro Nishikado of Taito Corporation, the classic arcade game "Space Invaders" (commonly known as "小蜜蜂" or "Little Bee" in Taiwan) is an epic shooting game that combines the concept of Breakout with space and alien elements. It features alien characters such as Octopus, Crab, and Squid, allowing players to operate a cannon to shoot down invading enemies. Due to the game's immense popularity among players, the Crab became Taito Corporation's mascot and significantly influenced the gaming industry at the time.
To commemorate the 45th anniversary of "Space Invaders", BellFine has specially brought the popular character "CRAB" to life in a large 28cm three-dimensional figure! It faithfully recreates the 8-bit specifications of the game world and restores the impactful red coloring, making the CRAB stand out as if it jumped right out of the game! Displaying it in your room will undoubtedly create an overwhelming presence~
