Hong Kong toy manufacturer Hot Toys today (24th) announced its latest product from "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse", the "Spider-Man 2099" 1/6th scale collectible figure! Expected to ship in Q3-Q4 2024.
Spider-Man 2099, who first appeared in the eponymous comic in 1992, is named "Miguel O'Hara". He is a brilliant geneticist living in a parallel world, Earth-928, in New York in 2099. In an accident, half of Miguel's DNA was rewritten with a spider's genetic code, but he not only survived but also gained spider-like superpowers. In the new movie "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse", Miguel is the leader of the Spider-Society and a key character who stands in opposition to Miles.
This figure, standing at 33.5 cm tall, recreates Spider-Man 2099's imposing physique as seen in the film with a muscular base body. However, the overall presentation differs significantly from previous Hot Toys Spider-Man figures or the earlier limited edition "Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit". Instead of a form-fitting fabric that shows wrinkles, it features a style that openly displays the articulated joints. In addition to more pronounced muscle shapes and animated lines, its durability should also be enhanced, and it utilizes special paintwork to create a visual effect of energy, which is super cool.
The head sculpt faithfully captures Miguel's angular facial contours and serious expression, and features movable eyeballs for added versatility. Accessories include forearm spikes, a translucent web cape, a time-travel device, and multiple interchangeable hands, including those with attack effect parts. Even the display base's backdrop is excellent.
