Bandai's GASHAPON capsule toy brand has launched a new premium series, "Ultimate Creatures Encyclopedia." Following items like the "Leafy Sea Dragon," the series is now releasing its latest "Coconut Crab" capsule toy! Scheduled for release in October 2023, it features only one design, with a reference price of 7,700 JPY per turn, available exclusively online via PREMIUM BANDAI.
The "Ultimate Creatures Encyclopedia (いきもの大図鑑アドバンス)" boasts top-tier size, sculpting, and articulation design, offering even more realistic details and exquisite paintwork compared to standard "Creatures Encyclopedia" products. This release features the largest terrestrial crab currently known—the "Ultimate Creatures Encyclopedia Coconut Crab." With only one design, it perfectly replicates the common dark purplish-blue-grey carapace of an adult coconut crab, complete with realistic gradient painting. Furthermore, CT scan modeling was used to fully reproduce its robust pincers, swollen cephalothorax, and other distinctive features, with its legs extending to a total length of 20 cm!
The articulation design is even more intricate, featuring 60 points of articulation, including two pairs of slender antennae, maxillipeds, large and small chelae, robust second pereiopods, third, fourth, and fifth pereiopods, and the folded abdomen of an adult crab. All complex joints are faithfully reproduced! You can enjoy posing it as if it's cracking open a coconut with its powerful pincers! Get to know these creatures better through this toy! *Note: In Taiwan, the coconut crab is a Class II protected species. If encountered on the beach or in nearby coastal forests, please do not disturb or capture it out of curiosity, to avoid violating the Wildlife Conservation Act.
