Japanese model manufacturer MEGAHOUSE today announced that the latest product from the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, the "Mobile Beam Cannon Platform", from their "MACHINE BUILD" semi-finished model kit series, which reproduces internal structures, is scheduled for release in late September 2023.

The Mobile Beam Cannon Platform (Bustliner), originating from the model project "MS-X", is an auxiliary weapon for Mobile Suits developed by the Earth Federation Forces. To address the insufficient cruising range of Mobile Suits at the time, it mounted a battleship-grade main beam cannon onto a medium assault boat. It could be transported alongside Mobile Suits and fire high-power beam cannons on the ground or in space. However, after the development of the RX-78 series Gundam, its portable weapon, the "Beam Rifle," already possessed immense power comparable to a battleship, rendering further development of the Mobile Beam Cannon Platform unnecessary.

The "MACHINE BUILD Mobile Beam Cannon Platform" is a semi-finished model kit with some parts pre-painted, while others require self-assembly. The entire platform is produced at a size of 28 cm in length and 16 cm in height, making it suitable for display alongside Bandai's 1/144 scale Gunpla models. The intricate design meticulously reproduces details such as the headlights on both sides of the bottom assault boat, the rear thrusters, the barrel of the upper beam cannon, and energy conduits. Using waterslide decals, the distinctive "71" numbering can be further replicated in various locations.
