Japanese toy brand Kaiyodo's plastic assembly model series "ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS", following "EVA Unit-02 Beast Mode 2 The Beast Underground City Battle", has once again announced its latest product from "Neon Genesis Evangelion", "EVA Unit-01 Berserk", with a reference price of 7,150 JPY, scheduled for release in November 2023!
The "ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS EVA Unit-01 Berserk" plastic assembly model's prototype originates from the masterpiece 'EVANGELION Unit-01' GK kit released by Kaiyodo in 1997, crafted by chief animal sculptor "Shinobu Matsumura". Matsumura reinterpreted Unit-01 with his masterful biological sculpting techniques, respecting the original design while also showcasing his rare imagination, sculpting prowess, and ability to reconstruct, which greatly impacted the Japanese modeling industry at the time.
This classic sculpt is being re-released in an assembly model format, which is simpler to produce and relatively more affordable than GK kits! Utilizing 3D printing technology to highly reproduce the prototype's details, Unit-01, berserk and tearing apart the Fourth Angel, once again stands upon the earth. The assembled model stands approximately 23 cm tall, with all detail modifications personally handled by Mr. Matsumura. It also includes a High-Vibration Particle Knife replacement hand, a complete arm, and replacement parts to remove the chest restraints, showcasing Unit-01's berserk and frenzied appearance!
