The popular die-cast toy series 'METAL BUILD', released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., announced today that the long-anticipated new products from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", "Freedom Gundam" and "Providence Gundam", will have their product information revealed in August and September 2023, respectively, with release dates yet to be determined.
The "Providence Gundam," the antagonist mobile suit from "Gundam SEED," has been highly anticipated since its product development was announced in 2021. This mobile suit, piloted by ZAFT ace pilot Rau Le Creuset, is equipped with the latest technologies such as a nuclear engine, Neutron Jammer Canceller, DRAGOON System, G.U.N.D.A.M.COMPLEX, and PS armor, boasting top-tier performance for its era. It can launch all-range attacks using long-range beam weapons such as the "Judgement" large beam rifle and the 11 "DRAGOON System" units with multiple gunports on its disc-shaped backpack.
Judging from the prototype currently on display, the entire unit features a heavy, textured color scheme with various metallic and silver-gray tones. The distinctive pipeline design on both sides of the waist is quite striking. The armor incorporates numerous panel lines and intricate details, adding depth and layering, and it also features a newly designed body marking, different from the original. The DRAGOON System-equipped backpack not only allows the beam cannons to detach but also appears to house original METAL BUILD series articulation mechanisms. The "Judgement" large beam rifle held in its hand also boasts an impressive size.
However, the "Freedom Gundam" to be announced in August raises some questions. All currently displayed physical models are the previously released "Freedom Gundam CONCEPT 2". Yet, Bandai is promoting it as a new product. It's unclear whether this will be a simple re-release, a "Final Battle Version" with new accessories, or a new version based on the life-sized statue in Shanghai.
