Japanese figure manufacturer Good Smile Company, following the release of the new "Sheryl Nome Anniversary Stage Ver." scale figure from "Macross Frontier" in May this year, recently announced the latest product in the same series, "Ranka Lee ~ Anniversary Stage Ver. ~", slated for release in November 2024.
One of the heroines of "Macross Frontier", Ranka Lee, was originally a high school girl who loved to sing. She aspired to become a dazzling Galactic Fairy like Sheryl Nome, and worked tirelessly to achieve her dream of becoming a star. From working part-time at a Chinese restaurant and singing on the streets to promote carrots, she even faced suspension from school for participating in an entertainment audition. It wasn't until she played a supporting role in the movie "Bird Human" that she shot to overnight fame, becoming an idol singer known as the "Super Dimension Cinderella".
The "Ranka Lee ~ Anniversary Stage Ver. ~" figure, at a 1/7 scale with a total height of approximately 31.5 cm, brings to life the 10th-anniversary illustration drawn by Risa Ebata, who was responsible for the anime's character designs. It not only recreates Ranka's signature sunny smile and KIRA☆ gesture but also meticulously sculpts her flowing hair, fluttering skirt, and ribbons. Combined with her jumping pose, it captures the extremely dynamic style of the original artwork, fully showcasing Ranka's gentle and cheerful charm.
The figure also utilizes rich and intricate paintwork to reproduce the costume design from the original illustration, including the complex color blocks of the outfit, various hair accessories, multicolored ribbons, and the metallic texture of the golden star ornaments. Furthermore, the transparent parts feature elaborate gradient painting to recreate the sheer skirt flowing down from her back. The base is also crafted in a retro American signboard style for Ranka's nameplate, with fluorescent green filling the letters and individual orange-yellow light bulb parts creating a glowing effect, allowing both figures to be displayed together!
