Japanese model manufacturer Good Smile Company's 'ACT MODE' series, which combines finished action figures with assembly model weapon accessories, recently announced its latest product, "Mio & Type15 Ver2 Close range attack mode," slated for release in March 2024.
The 'ACT MODE' series combines GSC's cultivated action figure and model kit manufacturing technologies. It consists of an action figure that can be played with immediately upon purchase and a weapon model kit that requires assembly. Once completed, the action figure and weapons can be combined to create various interesting poses. This release, "Mio & Type15 Ver2 Close range attack mode," is a close-range combat specification of the previous product, "Mio & Type15 Ver2." She originates from the original doujinshi 《NAVY FIELD 152》 by Japanese illustrator POCO Murohani. Mio is a girl enhanced as a weapon, capable of commanding the shark spirit beast "Type 15-2," who leisurely runs a farm on a small island.
"Mio & Type15 Ver2 Close range attack mode" is also composed of two parts: the finished action figure "Mio" and the assembly model "Type15 Ver2." Mio is presented as a fully articulated figure approximately 14.5 cm tall, featuring a newly sculpted outfit. The rich colors on her jacket and the intricate small text details across her body are reproduced through paint and printing. She also comes with adorable hands for holding a taiyaki.
The shark spirit beast "Type15 Ver2" is assembled from multi-color molded parts. Once completed, it can transform from "Shark Mode" into a backpack-style "Armed Mode" by swapping parts, allowing the Mio figure to equip it and form a cool combined appearance!
