American collectible manufacturer Sideshow Collectibles' "Premium Format Figure" product line has officially unveiled its latest DC product, the "BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT" full body statue! Shipping is expected to begin from May to August 2024.
"Batman: Gotham by Gaslight" is a comic published in 1989, written by Brian Augustyn and illustrated by Mike Mignola; the story is set in the Victorian era of the 19th century. Its biggest selling point is Gotham City transformed into a retro metropolis shrouded in fog and lined with classical buildings, and this time Batman faces the villain "Jack the Ripper," a serial killer targeting women! Without super high-tech, the main storyline of deducing "who exactly is Jack the Ripper" based on evidence gathered from various sources also highlights Batman's role as a "detective."
This piece stands approximately 52 cm tall, depicting Batman in a powerful pose, crouched on the rooftop of a dilapidated building, ready to strike. In addition to the Victorian-era Bat-suit crafted according to the comic's setting, the grappling hook rope in his hand, the dagger on his utility belt, and the Bat-mask with visible stitch marks—these retro pieces of equipment all showcase the charm of a bygone era for this Batman. The fabric cape also has an embedded wire for free posing, and the heavy feel brought by the artificial leather surface is truly super cool! Furthermore, the damaged building base, which appears to be a church, incorporates the element of a smoking chimney, making the overall piece quite captivating.
