The Japanese toy brand PLEX's "JUMBO SOFT VINYL FIGURE" series will release a new product from "Mazinger Z / INFINITY The Movie": the "Jumbo Soft Vinyl Figure Great Mazinger (INFINITY) Ver.2", scheduled for release in January 2024, priced at 46,200 JPY.
Released in 2018, "Mazinger Z / INFINITY The Movie" (マジンガーZ / INFINITY) is a commemorative work celebrating Go Nagai-sensei's 50th anniversary in the industry. Designed by Takayuki Yanase, it features completely new mechanical designs with numerous armor panel lines, giving Mazinger Z a fresh new look. This also includes Great Mazinger (グレートマジンガー), Aphrodite A, and Boss Borot, which also appeared in the film. The story depicts the world 10 years after the TV anime series concluded, where Koji and others embark on new lives with new identities, their encounter with the mysterious demon "INFINITY", and the return of familiar foes Baron Ashura, Count Brocken, and Dr. Hell.
Similar to the previously introduced Mazinger Z Ver.2, this "Jumbo Soft Vinyl Figure Great Mazinger (INFINITY) Ver.2" also features a more vibrant and brilliant color scheme. It emphasizes a metallic texture on areas like the limbs. The V-shaped heat plate on its chest is, of course, rendered with clear parts, combined with a few simple articulated joints, and its impressive height of approximately 60 cm. When displayed alongside Mazinger Z, both Mazingers exude a magnificent presence. Additionally, if pre-ordered through PREMIUM BANDAI, a mini clear acrylic standee of Tetsuya Tsurugi will be included.
