Kotobukiya, the Japanese model kit manufacturer, has once again announced the second product in its popular 'Megami Device' plastic model kit series, which combines diverse mechanical equipment with highly articulated bishoujo base bodies. The "BUSTER DOLL Knight," featuring a next-generation new base body, is scheduled for release in March 2024.
The 'BUSTER DOLL' series utilizes the "Machineca Block2-M" articulated base body, newly developed by sculptor Masaki Apsy. Compared to previous generation bodies, the parts structure has been completely revamped, with development focused on significantly improving ease of assembly and expandability for interchangeable parts, while also upgrading the aesthetic appeal of the body lines. Its features include:
- Multiple sizes and lengths of spherical neck joints compatible with various Kotobukiya product specifications.
- Achieves the series' first built-in articulated frame structure, greatly enhancing parts interchangeability.
- Adopts one-piece molded leg exterior parts and a post-assembly design, reducing unsightly seams and facilitating painting/processing.
- Adds 3mm peg/hole weapon connection rings on both ears, shoulders, wrists, thighs, and calves.
- Adopts a layered armor system, further subdividing the series' traditional body and armed modes into four modes: body, costume, light armor, and heavy armor.
- Includes numerous hardpoint expansion parts, significantly increasing weapon expandability.
- Adopts a new dedicated stand with an articulated support arm featuring more articulation points to stably assist the main body's various poses.
- Traditional PVC soft plastic hands have been changed to hard plastic material; the weapon-holding hands can accommodate both round and square weapon grips, allowing for easy fixation after inserting parts.
The second character, "BUSTER DOLL Knight," is also designed by illustrator Parsley, portraying a knight girl with beautiful black hair and a dignified gaze. The completed kit stands approximately 16 cm tall and includes three pre-printed face parts for interchangeability. It also comes with three unprinted face parts and water-slide decals for creating custom expressions, and is compatible with most face parts from previous generation bodies. In addition to the pure dark blue underwear of the base body, the kit includes costume parts designed after a sailor uniform, as well as exterior armor, backpack, and sword and shield parts equipped with numerous expansion ports for an interchangeable armed mode, allowing for free combination of various parts.
