Following "21342 The Insect Collection," the next new release in the "Ideas" series from Danish toy company LEGO, "21344 The Orient Express," has finally been officially unveiled! It is scheduled for release in December 2023.
Updated November 20, 2023:
This set contains a total of 2540 pieces, and once assembled, it reaches an astonishing length of 116 cm. While highly showcasing the vintage charm of a steam train, you can also enjoy the beautiful aesthetics of the locomotive, remove the roof to peek at the interior details of the dining and sleeping cars, and appreciate the tracks that offer both playability and display value. The inlaid panels in the first-class cabin, the mirror on the bed, the backgammon board, the Paris-Istanbul route map, the luggage cart, and more are all fantastic elements that add perfect finishing touches!
▼ There are a total of 8 minifigures, including a station master, a duchess, a train driver, a service attendant, a station manager, a scientist, a writer, and a film director (fourth from the left) based on the original designer Thomas Lajon. It's absolutely fantastic that they've been made into LEGO minifigures!
▼ The Orient Express (THE ORIENT EXPRESS, A LEGENDARY TRAIN), designed by Thomas Lajon, was originally conceived as a 1930s "Pacific PLM 231 K 8" built from 2995 pieces.
