The popular die-cast toy series 'METAL BUILD', released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, today officially announced the latest product from 'Mobile Suit Gundam 00', the 'GN ARMS TYPE-D Expansion Parts Set', scheduled for release in April 2024.
The GN ARMS is a large support mechanism developed by the private armed organization Celestial Being specifically for Gundams. In the series, two specifications appeared: TYPE-E, used by Gundam Exia, and TYPE-D, used by Gundam Dynames. Normally, it can be mounted on the exterior of Celestial Being's transport ship 'Ptolemaios' as weaponry or used independently as a space fighter. However, when combined with a Gundam, it can unleash its maximum combat power. Not only does it significantly enhance the Gundam's maneuverability in space with its large thrusters, but it also features powerful armaments such as GN Field and GN Mega Cannon. Depending on the supported Gundam unit, the TYPE-E is equipped with a large GN Sword, while the TYPE-D is equipped with a Twin GN Rifle and GN Missile Pods.
This newly released 'METAL BUILD GN ARMS TYPE-D Expansion Parts Set' includes incredibly imposing armaments such as the 'Twin GN Rifle', 'Super-Large GN Missile Pods', and 'Sensor Unit'. Under the supervision of designers like Takayuki Yanase and Kanetake Ebikawa, it features designs that differ from the original work. It can be combined with the separately sold 'GN ARMS TYPE-E' and 'Gundam Dynames' main unit for equipment changes.
The 'Twin GN Rifle', measuring over 30 cm, features a barrel folding mechanism as per its design, and even includes an original mechanism allowing it to separate into two rifles. The 'Super-Large GN Missile Pods' can open all hatches to reveal detailed missile sculpts inside, and its front and rear halves can also be folded. When equipped to the GN ARMS's arms and mounted with the Gundam Dynames main unit, it can recreate the classic 'TYPE-D' form from the series. Furthermore, an original mechanism allows for a unique configuration with rifles mounted on both arms and missile pods suspended at the rear.
Even without the GN ARMS main unit, the 'METAL BUILD GN ARMS TYPE-D Expansion Parts Set' can still link with the Gundam Dynames main unit. The set includes adapter parts that allow Gundam Dynames to directly wield both the 'Twin GN Rifle' and 'Super-Large GN Missile Pods' or mount them on its back. The 'Twin GN Rifle' can even transform its side shields into a sniper bipod, combining with Gundam Dynames's sniper scope to recreate an original 'Super High-Altitude Shooting Equipment' different from the anime's setting, allowing for dynamic sniper scenes!
