Japanese toy brand PLEX's "Jumbo Soft Vinyl Figure" series is set to release a soft vinyl toy of the "Z Gundam", piloted by protagonist Kamille Bidan from the classic robot anime 《Mobile Suit Z Gundam》, in an SD Gundam style, in April 2024! Priced at 16,500 JPY.
Highly beloved by many fans in the series, 《Mobile Suit Z Gundam》 (機動戦士Zガンダム) first premiered in Japan in 1985 as a sequel to 《Mobile Suit Gundam》. The story takes place seven years after the "One Year War" of the previous installment. The Earth Federation organization "Titans", originally formed to eliminate Zeon remnants, gradually becomes tyrannical and corrupt, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among space colony residents and the formation of the anti-Titans organization "A.E.U.G.". The protagonist, Kamille Bidan, was originally an ordinary space resident who, during an evacuation, inadvertently became embroiled in a conflict with Titans member Jerid Messa, thus beginning the story.
Kamille initially piloted the Gundam Mk-II, later switching to the Z Gundam, which he personally helped design and which possesses transformation capabilities and independent atmospheric re-entry. This Z Gundam soft vinyl toy produced by PLEX reinterprets the Z Gundam's design in the familiar SD Gundam style. With a two-head-tall stature and a total height of 23 cm, this proportion will undoubtedly remind veteran collectors of the classic "Original SD Gundam" series toys, as the two are remarkably similar.
The overall color separation is precise and beautifully detailed, and it features simple articulation in areas such as the head, arms, and waist. Accessories include a beam rifle, a beam saber, and a shield that can be mounted on the arm. It's worth noting that while this product cannot transform into its Waverider form, the backpack's flight unit is still accurately sculpted. Furthermore, pre-ordering on PREMIUM BANDAI will include a clear acrylic stand of the Z Gundam as a bonus. Truly exquisite.
