Japanese toy company KOTOBUKIYA, known for its "ARTFX J" series which creates exquisite three-dimensional figures of ACG characters, has not only released "2B" but also unveiled another new product based on the popular anime "NieR:Automata Ver1.1a"—the "9S (YoRHa No.9 Type S)" 1/8 scale pre-painted figure. It has a suggested retail price of 25,300 JPY and is scheduled for release in February 2025!
The TV anime "NieR:Automata Ver1.1a," which began airing in 2023, is produced by A-1 Pictures and is an adaptation of "NieR:Automata," a spin-off of the "Drakengard" series developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix. One of the three main protagonists in the work, YoRHa No.9 Type S (or 9S for short), is a hacking-type scanner reconnaissance android. His primary duty is to research combat missions as a hacker. He has a lively personality, a strong curiosity about human history, and often displays emotions different from other combat-type machines.
This "9S (YoRHa No.9 Type S)" 1/8 scale pre-painted figure stands approximately 17.5 cm tall. It captures 9S in a battle-ready pose with one arm extended forward, while Pod 153 floats behind him, ready to provide support. His Gothic-style clothing and intricate patterns are meticulously sculpted, utilizing metallic and matte paint finishes to create distinct visual textures. The figure also includes an interchangeable head sculpt without the goggles, allowing collectors to display him in different ways. The ruined wall and debris scene depicted on the base can be combined with the concurrently released "2B (YoRHa No.2 Type B)" figure, significantly enhancing the visual impact of the display!
