Bushiroad Creative's gashapon brand TAMA-KYU (たまきゅう) is set to release a practical animal-themed gashapon this November: the "Guinea Pig and Grass Measuring Tape" (モルモットと草)! It is scheduled for release in late November 2024, with a suggested retail price of 400 JPY per capsule.
Having previously released items such as the Personal Armband Ring, Coin of Destiny, Stone, and Senbei Brooch, TAMA-KYU is, in the editor's opinion, a strong contender for the title of "King of Super Useless Gashapon Manufacturers." This time, however, they're injecting convenient practicality into their new gashapon! Capitalizing on guinea pigs' habit of primarily eating grass, these adorable guinea pigs and the grass in their mouths transform into measuring tapes, allowing you to measure lengths while being utterly charmed!
The guinea pig figures in this release are approximately 6.2 cm long, and the green grass measuring tape can extend up to about 30 cm. The materials are ABS (for the body) and PVC (for the measuring tape). Furthermore, by using the hook at the end of the measuring tape, you can connect two guinea pigs, creating an incredibly cute scene as if they are sharing the same blade of grass! There are a total of four designs to collect. The two white guinea pigs have very subtle differences in fur color; one has fur that turns gray in the latter half of its body. If you don't look closely, you might not even notice the difference, making it perfect for trying your luck with one or two capsules.
