Coolkyousinnjya's manga, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, has charmed fans with two seasons of its adorable, slice-of-life anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation. Now, get ready for its first-ever theatrical film, "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: The Lonely Dragon" (小林さんちのメイドラゴン さみしがりやの竜), hitting theaters on June 27, 2025.
But before the big screen debut, the official team decided to pull off an epic April Fool's prank, teaming up with none other than legendary enka singer and actress, Sachiko Kobayashi! Playing on the "Kobayashi x Kobayashi" concept, they cooked up a joke that many fans are now seriously hoping becomes a reality.
The official April Fool's visual features Sachiko Kobayashi seamlessly integrated into the movie poster, with the title subtly tweaked to "Sachiko Kobayashi's Dragon Maid" (小林さちこのメイドラゴン). Talk about dedication!
And if that wasn't enough, they even released a "statement" from Sachiko Kobayashi herself, declaring:
Long time no see! It's me, the super-tired, heavy-hitting veteran Ms. Kobayashi, finally making a dazzling comeback! This time, the theme is "The Lonely Dragon's Isekai Adventure," and Kanna and I are about to stir up a storm in another world! Oh, it's absolutely thrilling!
See you at the cinema, everyone! I guarantee you'll have the most exhilarating time of your lives ♪
Even film director Tatsuya Ishihara chimed in, "announcing" that this marks Kyoto Animation's first-ever challenge in "live-action composite + animation"! He added, "For me, this is also full of new challenges, so please look forward to it!" (Just kidding, of course!)
This level of commitment to an April Fool's joke had fans cracking up, with many jokingly saying it was so well-done that if it actually happened, they wouldn't even be surprised!
Even the official X (formerly Twitter) account changed its name! LOL.
Of course, it was all in good fun to promote the upcoming "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: The Lonely Dragon" movie in June. But who knows... maybe we'll actually see a Sachiko Kobayashi collaboration in the future? You never know! www
