Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, announced the latest limited-edition product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam UC": the "HG 1/144 Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 Phenex (Destroy Mode) Gold & Silver Coating Set," scheduled for release starting September 2025.
The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 "Phenex" is an experimental Unicorn series mobile suit independently manufactured by the Earth Federation Forces, separate from Anaheim Electronics. It features golden armor and carries two "Armed Armor DE" units on its back. In U.C.0095, during an engagement with the Neo Zeon remnants' "AMX-107R Rebawoo," the "Phenex" went berserk after activating its NT-D system, disappearing from the test area along with its pilot.
The "HG 1/144 Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 Phenex (Destroy Mode) Gold & Silver Coating Set" is actually a revised re-release of the "Ver.GFT Limited Edition" from several years ago. It includes two special-specification "Phenex" units that appeared in limited animations at Gundam Front Tokyo: the golden Phenex from "Mobile Suit Gundam UC One of Seventy Two" and the silver Phenex from "Reconguista in G FROM THE PAST TO THE FUTURE," allowing you to become an honest modeler who met the Lady of the Lake and own both the gold and silver Phenex at once.
Aside from the color of the armor and psycho-frame, the gold and silver versions are essentially identical. They reproduce the shining body with luxurious gold and silver plated exterior armor parts, respectively. The kit utilizes the original "Mobile Suit Gundam UC" version without the tail feather parts, recreating the Destroy Mode where the internal clear molded "psycho-frame" is exposed after transformation. Armaments include a Beam Magnum rifle and the "Armed Armor DE" units on the back, resembling a pair of wings.
