BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the latest product in its transforming alloy toy 'DX Chogokin' series, the 'VF-17S Nightmare Stealth Valkyrie (Gamlin Kizaki Custom)' from Macross 7, slated for release in March 2026.
The VF-17 Nightmare is a special operations aircraft developed by General Galaxy, referencing the 'VF-14 Vampire'. Its appearance is inspired by the real-world 'F-117 Nighthawk' stealth fighter, which debuted in 1981, featuring numerous flat surfaces to evade radar detection, special radar-absorbent coating, and an internal weapon system, while also incorporating the series' signature three-stage transformation mechanism. One of the protagonists in the series, Gamlin Kizaki, also used this aircraft as his primary machine, specifically the commander-spec 'VF-17S', which is equipped with enhanced communication and reconnaissance capabilities and a special engine.
The 'DX Chogokin VF-17S Nightmare Stealth Valkyrie (Gamlin Kizaki Custom)' meticulously recreates the stealth-focused fuselage shape using precisely sculpted parts, with color applications and printing to reproduce the lines and markings on the aircraft. In FIGHTER mode, three landing gears can be deployed from the underside of the fuselage to replicate a parked state, and the cockpit canopy can open to accommodate a pilot figure. It also features an original toy-specific beam gun pod suspension. Thanks to the transformation mechanism of its alloy movable frame, it can flawlessly transform into the high-speed combat 'GERWALK' mode and the robot 'BATTROID' mode.
In GERWALK mode, it not only features a close-quarters combat mode with transforming hands capable of holding weapons, but its elbows also replicate a retractable mechanism for the internal laser cannons, recreating the 'Assault Mode'. In BATTROID mode, the commander-spec head sculpt, distinct from the standard version, is visible. The pair of beam cannons on the chest are articulated with ball joints, and the main wings on the back have a folding storage mechanism, allowing the figure to be securely posed in various dynamic combat stances.
