Japanese figure manufacturer Megahouse has unveiled the first painted prototype of its latest product, "Mega Charizard X & Mega Charizard Y," from the "G.E.M.EX" series, a line of figures themed around deeply connected Pokémon. It is scheduled for release in late July 2026.
The super popular Pokémon Charizard gained the special ability to "Mega Evolve" in the sixth generation of the main series games, *Pokémon X and Y*. At the time, it was one of only two Pokémon, besides Mewtwo, to possess both X and Y Mega Evolution forms. Both forms exhibit significant differences in appearance and abilities. The all-black "Mega Charizard X," which emits blue flames, changes its type to Fire/Dragon, greatly boosting its Attack and Defense base stats. "Mega Charizard Y," which retains its original colors and has a sharper design, keeps its original type and greatly boosts its Special Attack and Special Defense base stats.
The "G.E.M. EX Mega Charizard X & Mega Charizard Y" figure condenses the soaring forms of both Mega Evolution types into a single piece. It meticulously recreates their distinct appearances and color schemes with intricate sculpting and coloring. Clear parts and gradient painting are used to express the magnificent two-color flames, while the base below features shattered rock fragments, broken by the intense flames, showcasing the even greater power after Mega Evolution.
