Bandai Co., Ltd. (Japan) has announced the latest product from their popular Tokusatsu and Monster-themed soft vinyl toy "MOVIE MONSTER" series, the "MOVIE MONSTER GIGA Destoroyah", scheduled for release on October 25, 2025.
Destoroyah was originally a microscopic crustacean that lived in an oxygen-free environment 2.5 billion years ago. In 1954, Dr. Serizawa used the "Oxygen Destroyer" to kill the first Godzilla, but this also awakened Destoroyah, which had been dormant in ancient strata, and it gradually mutated into a creature adapted to oxygen. After contact with oxygen, it evolved from its original 2-5 millimeters into larvae nearly 2 meters long, and could further aggregate and evolve into "Aggregate Forms." Later, by absorbing Godzilla Junior's DNA and power plant energy, it mutated and evolved into a perfect form over 200 meters tall. Its colossal figure was like a terrifying demon, and its powerful beam could cut through Godzilla's skin. Its only weakness was extremely low-temperature freezing rays.
This time, Destoroyah is released under the new product line "GIGA" (戲華). The series name "GIGA" (戲華) combines the meaning of "gorgeous colors" with a homophone for GIGA (gigantic). The overall size adopts a similar proportion to the "MOVIE MONSTER Burning Godzilla (1995) ver.2.0", recreating its imposing size from the film, which is even larger than Godzilla. At the same time, the coloring also applies paint to areas that cannot be expressed in regular MOVIE MONSTER products, greatly reproducing its appearance from the film.
