To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Toei Tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Hibiki, Bandai Co., Ltd. Japan has announced its latest products: the "Disc Animal Akane Taka Set", "Disc Animal Ruri Ōkami Set", and "Disc Animal Midori Saru Set", scheduled for release between August and October 2026.
Disc Animals are animal-type Onishigami developed by the Takeshi organization in the series, used by Ongeki Warriors such as Kamen Rider Hibiki. Normally, in standby mode, they are silver circular discs with a diameter of approximately 12.5 cm. When activated using musical instruments, they transform into colorful animal forms. Disc Animals possess a wide range of functions, including scouting Makamou, recording audio and video, and throwing weapons, with each animal possessing different characteristics. Furthermore, when Hibiki transforms into his strongest form, "Armed Hibiki", his fiery red armor is composed of numerous Disc Animals.
The Disc Animal series products, released in 2005, received that year's Japan Good Design Award due to their highly functional and aesthetically pleasing transforming design, simple styling, and playability. The three products released this time, the "Akane Taka Set", "Ruri Ōkami Set", and "Midori Saru Set", are re-releases based on the original products from that year. They maintain the same 12.5 cm diameter and excellent transformation mechanism. Each set also includes two versions: a colorful "Activated Color Ver." and a "Silver Ver." for storage.
Whether Akane Taka, Ruri Ōkami, or Midori Saru, the "Activated Color" of each model features single-sided pattern transfer processing on transparent parts, simulating the translucent, gradient colors seen in the series, reminiscent of stained glass. After transforming into their animal forms, simple articulation allows them to display poses such as Akane Taka soaring with outstretched wings, Ruri Ōkami howling with its head held high, and Midori Saru climbing and swinging!
