Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya has announced the release of a new plastic model kit, "GRAND SCALE Gene (STELLA TEARS Ver.)", from the mobile game "Phantasy Star Online 2 es", scheduled for August 2026.
Gene is a junior ARKS in "Phantasy Star Online 2 es" who adventures alongside the protagonist (player). She possesses a sweet and cute appearance, an attractive figure, a naive and cheerful personality, and a wide range of expressions. Her body contains an astonishing amount of photons, but it struggles to bear the load, causing her to tire easily in battle, leading Anette to often tease her about her "terrible control." However, this physique is not without its advantages; Gene also possesses excellent recovery abilities, able to fully recuperate after just one night's rest. The "STELLA TEARS" outfit, which is being commercialized this time, represents Gene's modified form in her later stages, designed to increase photon absorption efficiency by exposing more skin.
"GRAND SCALE Gene (STELLA TEARS Ver.)" is a modified version based on the standard release from 2020. The 3DCAD files for each part have been redesigned to a larger scale, and additional part divisions and color separations have been incorporated. Once assembled, the kit will result in a Gene figure approximately 25 cm tall, faithfully reproducing her design from the concept art. It also features excellent articulation, allowing for a variety of cute and alluring poses.
Accessories include three pre-painted face parts: "Smiling Face," "Sad Face," and "Panicked Face," along with multiple interchangeable PVC hand parts, including the "PEACE" hand part from the game's 2nd-anniversary illustration. For weaponry, an enlarged version of the twin-bladed weapon "Fossil Bower" is included. Its design and mechanism are identical to the "Fossil Tricks" from the previous release, Gene (STELLA INNOCENT Ver.). It can be folded and stored on her back, and when deployed, transparent blue molded blade effects can be attached.
