Japanese capsule toy brand Kitan Club (キタンクラブ) has collaborated with highly popular Japanese artist Yuko Higuchi to create a new capsule toy series, "Kami-sama" (神様), scheduled for release in mid-April! The suggested retail price is 500 JPY per capsule, with a total of seven designs to collect.
Delicate imagery and intricate brushwork, blending elements like cuteness, grotesqueness, and wonder to express their charm, can be said to be a major characteristic of Yuko Higuchi's work. The characters in her art are often not just beautiful or cute, but combine with elements like octopuses, fish, and mushrooms, creating a slightly eerie atmosphere. For example, cats with octopus bodies and snake heads for hands, beautiful girls with crocodile lower halves and bodies covered in mushrooms, and Mr. Crocodile, dressed in noble attire and holding a fresh flower.
This time, the figures are not the mysterious cat creature GUSTAVE, familiar to Higuchi-sensei's fans, but rather the "Kami-sama" (Gods) who possess various appearances and embody Yuko Higuchi's unique worldview. Not only are each god's unique designs fully expressed, but also the lettering on their foreheads, the text on the props they hold, and the intricate details of abundant accessories like luggage and books are exquisitely crafted. Each Kami-sama figure is very interesting, with a size of approximately 3.5 to 3.7 cm. They will surely be super cute on your desk, making them unique little display pieces!
