Bandai Candy's popular assembly model Shokugan line, "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT," is expanding its SMP ALTERNATIVE DESTINY sub-series. Following the first release, Gunbuster, from the classic anime "Aim for the Top! Gunbuster," the company announced today (the 6th) that the "∞ Super Inazuma Kick Set" — a dedicated accessory pack for Gunbuster — is slated for a February 2022 release.
The Inazuma Kick (イナズマキック) is Gunbuster's most iconic finishing move, a pure martial arts technique reminiscent of a Kamen Rider's flying kick. This move later evolved into the "Super Inazuma Kick," where Gunbuster uses its thrusters to ascend to high altitudes, descending at sub-light speeds while employing chainsaws on its feet. However, for the SMP AD version, mechanical designer Miyauchi Toshihisa has dramatically exaggerated the chainsaw element, renaming it the "∞ Super Inazuma Kick."
The "∞ Super Inazuma Kick Set" doesn't just include the exaggerated blade replacement parts for the ∞ Super Inazuma Kick; it also features similarly styled discharge effect parts for the Buster Collider mechanisms hidden within its arms and legs. Furthermore, a dedicated stand allows these spiky parts to be concentrated on the back, forming a silhouette reminiscent of the "Iron Throne."
The set also comes with a cape-like "Buster Shield," the small mobile weapon RX-7 (Nausicaa) piloted by Noriko Takaya, and a dedicated hand part to recreate the iconic scene of the RX-7 resting in Gunbuster's palm.
