The 2P color is here! PLUM, the renowned Japanese model kit developer, is following up its previous 1P color release of KONAMI's classic shooting game "Gradius V" protagonist fighter, the VIC VIPER, with a new 2P color version 1/144 scale model kit. This highly anticipated release is slated for May 2022.
"Gradius" (グラディウス) stands as KONAMI's flagship shooting game series, first launching in arcades in 1985. Numerous titles in the series have garnered critical acclaim, even spawning popular spin-offs like "Salamander." However, no new main entries have been released since "Gradius Rebirth" debuted on the Wii in 2008.
The VIC VIPER is a uniquely designed hyper-dimensional fighter. Its most distinctive feature is its split nose cone, diverging from the typical pointed front of conventional aircraft. In the game, it serves as the primary military fighter tasked with repelling planetary invasions. While its initial loadout is basic and weak, collecting enough power capsules allows players to upgrade its equipment, transforming it into the ultimate combat machine with devastating firepower.
This 2P color version of the VIC VIPER fighter model kit faithfully recreates the design of the "VIC VIPER T-301" from "Gradius V." Measuring approximately 15cm in length, its fuselage features striking red accents in various areas, distinguishing it from the 1P blue version. The model boasts intricate detailing and excellent color separation throughout, and it comes complete with a dedicated display stand.
