MECHA SMILE, a Japanese brand, today announced the latest product from its assembly model 'MODEROID' series, based on the popular anime "Patlabor": the "Type 98 Special Command Vehicle + Type 99 Special Labor Carrier", slated for release in January 2023.
This release features the "Type 98 Special Command Vehicle" and "Type 99 Special Labor Carrier" used by Special Vehicles Section 2 in the series. Like previous Labor models released in the MODEROID series, they are produced in 1/60 scale, making them essential kits for recreating the Special Vehicles Section 2's formation. The product has been thoroughly supervised by mechanical designer Shoji Kawamori, who has revamped the vehicle structure and detailed styling to be more in line with modern vehicle designs.
The "MODEROID Type 98 Special Command Vehicle + Type 99 Special Labor Carrier" kit is made with multi-color molded parts, some pre-painted parts, and waterslide decals for vehicle markings. The Type 98 Special Command Vehicle meticulously recreates details such as transparent patrol lights, searchlights, loudspeakers, and blast-proof armor protecting the driver's seat. The tire parts are made from rubber.
The Type 99 Special Labor Carrier boasts an impressive length of 29 cm, with its design thoroughly recreating rich details such as patrol lights, windows, and the interior of the cockpit. Each rubber tire is connected by a metal axle and can rotate, and the front wheels feature a left-right turning mechanism, allowing the vehicle to steer. The multi-purpose gantry towed at the rear can carry MODEROID's Ingram, Peacemaker, Valiant, and other police Labors. It can be erected 90 degrees using retractable support struts and features movable articulated arms, a rotatable crane, and retractable steps.
Furthermore, ordering this product from the "GOODSMILE Online Shop" will grant a limited bonus item: "AV-98 Ingram Unit 3 Parts", which can be combined with the separately sold "MODEROID AV-98 Ingram" kit to convert it into Unit 3 specifications.
