BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division, TAMASHII NATIONS, today announced the latest product from its "ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E." series of robot-themed action figures, the "Efreet Custom," originating from Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story: THE BLUE DESTINY, with an anticipated release in December 2023.
The MS-08TX[EXAM] Efreet Custom is an EXAM System-equipped mobile suit developed by Dr. Hurst Moores for the Principality of Zeon, prior to his defection to the Earth Federation to develop the Blue Destiny Unit 1. This machine is a modification of the close-combat mobile suit Efreet. Its head and other parts were enlarged to accommodate cooling devices, and multiple thrusters were added throughout its body to achieve high ground mobility. Coupled with its main armaments—twin heat sabers, wrist grenade launchers, and leg missile launchers—it demonstrates powerful mid-to-close range combat capabilities when the EXAM System, which reacts to the pilot's murderous intent, is activated. However, Hurst still believed that Zeon's mobile suits could not fully utilize the EXAM System he developed, leading to his defection to Earth.
The "ROBOT SPIRITS Efreet Custom ver. A.N.I.M.E." faithfully recreates Kunio Okawara's design aesthetic, body proportions, azure color scheme, and refined styling based on the original design sketches. Details such as its distinctive vermilion spiked shoulder armor, the large head with rear cooling vents, and the independent leg missile parts are all meticulously reproduced. Leveraging the articulation design cultivated by the ROBOT SPIRITS series, it features flexible limb joints and a rotating torso, allowing for a wide range of natural and dynamic poses.
By swapping out effect parts, the Efreet Custom can recreate its impressive appearance with the mono-eye camera glowing red and fiery heat emanating from its back upon EXAM System activation. Backpack thruster effects are also included, with both blue (pre-activation) and red (post-activation) versions available. Combined with 4 pairs of interchangeable hand parts and a pair of heat sabers that can be equipped in both hands, you can recreate scenes of it slicing through enemy mobile suits with its high mobility!
