The robot-themed action figure series "ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E.", released by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, recently announced its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story: THE BLUE DESTINY," the "RGM-79G GM Command (Marmot Team Specification)," slated for release in March 2024.
Compared to the early mass-produced RGM-79 GM, which saw significant cost reductions and the use of inexpensive parts due to urgent mass production during the One Year War, the RGM-79G series produced in the later stages was more faithful to the original design as a mass-produced version of the "RX-78 series Gundam." It boasted performance comparable to the Gundam, but due to its limited numbers, it was almost exclusively distributed to soldiers with prior Mobile Suit piloting experience. This particular specification is the GM Command utilized by the "Marmot Team," the 11th Independent Mechanized Mixed Unit to which protagonist Yu Kajima belongs, as seen in "Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story: THE BLUE DESTINY."
The "ROBOT SPIRITS RGM-79G GM Command (Marmot Team Specification) ver. A.N.I.M.E." is a modification based on the previously released 0080 version for space combat. The main body faithfully reproduces the slender physique and sharp, cool head sculpt based on the design sketches. It also features newly molded parts to recreate the distinct backpack and shield according to the settings. All four limbs are equipped with flexible movable joints, while the multi-axis articulation built into the chest and the interlocking armor design on the legs allow for more natural posing. Armaments include a Beam Spray Gun, Bullpup Machine Gun, Beam Saber, as well as familiar accessories like beam effects and thruster effects.
