Renowned poster design and toy company MONDO recently unveiled their latest product from John Carpenter's sci-fi horror film "The Thing": the "MacReady" 1/6 scale articulated figure! It will be released simultaneously in a standard version and a more luxurious Timed Edition. This is truly an excellent masterpiece; let's quickly see what great things MONDO has brought us this time!
The protagonist of this release, R.J. MacReady, is an American helicopter pilot in "The Thing." The story begins when the U.S.-affiliated "Outpost 31" research station in Antarctica is infiltrated by armed Norwegians. Due to a language barrier and the Norwegians accidentally injuring an American at the base while attempting to kill a sled dog, the Norwegians are shot and killed. To investigate the reason for the Norwegians' rampage, R.J. MacReady and Dr. Copper travel to the Norwegian base. Meanwhile, the sled dog pursued by the Norwegians transforms into a terrifying alien monster when no one is around and begins attacking other dogs. Although the monster is later burned, a saga of battling the creature and mutual suspicion is just beginning...
This 12-inch scale articulated MacReady figure is dressed in a green pilot's jumpsuit, topped with a faux leather jacket, complete with a belt featuring a holster, long boots, and a head sculpt that captures the youthful likeness of Kurt Russell, fully recreating MacReady's appearance from the film. Accessories include an alternate head sculpt, gloves, multiple interchangeable hands, a shotgun, a pistol, as well as a flamethrower with backpack, and flame effects. Thanks to the removable fabric clothing and functional zippers, at least three different styling variations can be achieved.

▼ In addition to all the contents of the standard edition, the Timed Edition also includes truly terrifying alien creatures!
Besides the initial dog-head monster, the human-head spider that appears later is surely a childhood nightmare for many toy collectors. The 1/6 scale alien creatures produced by MONDO this time not only feature abundant sculpted details but also boast highly organic paint applications. The flesh, which seems to have a palpable warmth, is incredibly detailed, truly a prime example of "the more grotesque, the more captivating."
