Vicky the Viking (小さなバイキングビッケ) is a Japanese-German co-produced animated series that aired from 1972 to 1974, comprising 78 episodes. The series is adapted from the children's book "Vicke Viking" (Swedish: Vicke Viking) by Swedish author Runer Jonsson. After its broadcast, the series had a profound influence on subsequent pirate-themed works. Eiichiro Oda, the author of the famous popular work One Piece!, once stated that he was influenced by Vicky the Viking and developed a fondness for pirates. It also influenced the creative concept of Makoto Yukimura, author of Vinland Saga.
▼ The original Chinese version of the Vicky the Viking theme song:
The story primarily follows Halvar (ハルバル), the chief of a Nordic Viking pirate crew, who often leads his subordinates on voyages of plunder but frequently encounters many difficult situations. Fortunately, the protagonist, the captain's son Vicky (ビッケ), though small in stature, possesses extraordinary intelligence. Every time he rubs his nose, he can stimulate his brainpower, shout "I've got it!", and come up with one solution after another to overcome difficulties. Sometimes it's pulling teeth, sometimes it's repelling enemies, and so on.
This soft vinyl figure of Vicky the Viking, exclusively developed and released by the fan-founded website "Viking Print", stands approximately 17 cm tall. Modeled after his familiar appearance from the early animation, Vicky looks incredibly cute, wearing his helmet and a gentle smile. His arm joints are articulated, allowing Vicky to raise his hands and pose as if pointing into the distance. There will also be an exclusive engraving on the soles of his feet. Additionally, this set will include a finger puppet toy of the original character "Sven the Terrible" (いじわるスベン), measuring approximately 9 cm.
