MEDICOM TOY, the Japanese toy company, today (1st) announced the latest 38th wave of its "VAG (VINYL ARTIST GACHA)" product series, which miniaturizes characters from artists and toy designers into gashapon figures. This new wave includes Japanese artist W.C JOHNNY's popular character "MYCE"! It is scheduled for release in mid-March 2024.
MYCE, created by JOHNNY, is a curious mouse living in a magical forest. He often consumes mysterious mushroom venom to enter a so-called psychedelic state, and spending his days in the forest searching for good mushrooms is MYCE's greatest pleasure. Like "BRUNO," the first soft vinyl toy character developed by JOHNNY and HEADLOCKSTUDIO, MYCE was sculpted by lowbrow artist Knucle. Upon its debut, MYCE was met with widespread demand and enthusiasm from toy collectors, leading to collaborations with various entities to release irresistible colorways.
This exquisitely sculpted MYCE in the VAG series stands approximately 6 cm tall. In addition to being presented in a sitting pose, its proportions and styling differ significantly from the soft vinyl toy. With its gaze directed to the side, it exudes a mischievous and impish aura! A total of five color variations are available, all truly adorable. Furthermore, VAG Vol. 38 also includes "Neko" by COJICA TOYS' Hiramoto-sensei, "Stegoro (Iron Fist Yakuza)" by Gibumi~! Tomotaka, and "Akabegon, the Folk Toy Monster" by Teresa Chiba (Terasa).
