GOOD SMILE COMPANY's popular "Nendoroid" series today (the 6th) announced a surprising new product from Japanese manga artist Shinya Suzuki's baseball comedy manga, "The King of Homerun": "Saruno Tenkoku"! It is scheduled for release in June 2024.
Saruno Tenkoku is the primary protagonist of "The King of Homerun." He can be described not only as simple-minded and physically strong, but also as single-celled, impulsive, hot-blooded, and absurd. Most of the manga's comedic antics stem from Saruno himself, yet his powerful hitting ability, born from his immense strength, is undeniable. Since joining the Saitama Prefectural Juunishi High School baseball club, he consistently steps up to bat in crucial moments. After mastering the secret hitting techniques of "Hachiku" (Rigid Bamboo) for power and "Utsusemi" (Cicada Shell) for stillness, he transformed from a raw amateur with brute force into a formidable slugger who poses a significant threat.
The "Nendoroid Saruno Tenkoku" stands approximately 10 cm tall, perfectly recreating his signature spiky hair and his goofy grin, as if he's just seen the baseball club manager, Nagi Torii. His outfit faithfully reproduces the Juunishi High School baseball club's white uniform and the green athletic shirt worn underneath. He comes with a serious face featuring beads of sweat, and a shy face with eyes completely squinted. Accessories include a metal baseball bat, a baseball glove, a baseball, and multiple interchangeable hand parts. When combined with the included stand, he can be posed in dynamic defensive actions, such as a diving catch! For long-time fans, this is truly an unexpected release, and we hope to see other characters released as well—at the very least, Saruno's rival (who is, ironically, on the same team), Mei Inukai!
