KOTOBUKIYA, the Japanese model manufacturer, today announced the fourth product in its popular 'Megami Device' series of plastic model kits, which combines colorful mechanical equipment with highly articulated bishoujo bodies. This new product, "BUSTER DOLL PALADIN", is made with a next-generation new body and is scheduled for release in June 2024.
The 'BUSTER DOLL' series utilizes the latest "Machineca Block2-M" articulated body developed by sculptor Masaki Apsy. Compared to previous bodies, the part structure has been completely revamped, developed with a focus on significantly improving assembly convenience and expandability for interchangeable parts, while also enhancing the aesthetic beauty of the body lines. Its features include:
・Spherical neck joints of various sizes and lengths to accommodate various product specifications from Kotobukiya
・Achieves the series' first built-in articulated frame structure, significantly enhancing part interchangeability
・Adopts integrated molded leg exterior parts and a post-assembly design, reducing unsightly seams and facilitating painting and customization
・Adds 3mm peg-hole weapon connection rings on both ears, shoulders, wrists, thighs, and calves
・Utilizes a layered armor system that further subdivides the series' traditional body and armed modes into four modes: body, costume, light armor, and heavy armor
・Includes numerous hardpoint expansion parts, greatly enhancing weapon expandability
・Features a new dedicated stand with an articulated support arm that has more movable axes to stably assist the main body's various poses
・The traditional PVC soft plastic hands have been changed to hard plastic material. The weapon-holding hands can accommodate both round and square weapon grips, allowing for easy fixation after inserting parts
The fourth new character, "PALADIN", is also designed by illustrator Parsley. As her name suggests, she is a paladin clad in glorious armaments. Her heavy armor allows her to hold the front lines of battle, wielding a greatsword to annihilate approaching enemy units. Her head is also equipped with blade-shaped antennas that provide wide-range reconnaissance and communication capabilities, making her suitable as a command tower for leading a team.
Once assembled, the "BUSTER DOLL PALADIN" body stands approximately 16 cm tall. Her magnificent golden ponytail hairstyle features an articulated design and dynamic sculpting. Three pre-printed face parts are included for interchangeability, along with three unprinted face parts and water-slide decals for custom expressions. She is also compatible with most face parts from previous body types. In addition to the pure black underwear, costume parts designed after a sailor uniform are included for dress-up.
The armament accessories include armor parts molded in blue and white tones, gold-molded blade antennas, a frame, and a greatsword. The cool red cape on both shoulders is rendered using clear red parts. She can gradually transform from a light armor mode with only partial armor to a more imposing full armor form.
