BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has officially announced today the detailed information for the latest collaboration product from their 『GUNDAM FIX FIGURATION METAL COMPOSITE』 series of die-cast finished models from "Mobile Suit Gundam". This new item, the 「PHANTACi RX-78-2 Gundam ver.J」, is a collaboration with pop superstar Jay Chou's fashion brand 『PHANTACi』. It will be available for lottery sale on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI, starting November 21, 2024, Japan time.
The 『GUNDAM FIX FIGURATION METAL COMPOSITE』 series is a popular product line where renowned mechanical designer KATOKI HAJIME, who has contributed to the "Gundam" series, oversees the sculpting, color, and marking designs. This particular product is based on the 「RX78-02 Gundam [THE ORIGIN]」 released in 2011, with Jay Chou personally providing the concept and supervision, and PHANTACi brand creative director RIC handling the color design.
The 「G.F.F.M.C. PHANTACi RX-78-2 Gundam ver.J」 stands approximately 18 cm tall, presenting the classic mobile suit piloted by the protagonist of the original "Mobile Suit Gundam", Amuro Ray. Its ABS and other plastic exterior armor incorporates KATOKI HAJIME's design style, featuring refined and cool armor separation lines and other intricate details. The joint parts are crafted from die-cast metal, providing both a satisfying firmness and a sense of weight during handling.
Following PHANTACi's redesign of the color scheme, the Gundam's internal frame boasts a dazzling gold, while the overall black exterior armor features both matte and glossy textures. This is combined with striking pink accents on certain armor parts and machine markings, such as the 「PHANTACi LOGO」, creating a trendy color palette reminiscent of city neon lights.
Accessories include a 「dedicated display stand」 and armaments such as a 「Beam Rifle」, 「Beam Saber」, 「Shield」, and two 「Hyper Bazookas」. These accessories adopt the same black, gold, and pink color scheme as the main unit, allowing for dynamic posing of the RX-78-2 Gundam in its classic battle stances!
