Under BANDAI SPIRITS' prize figure brand BANPRESTO, the "MAXIMATIC" figure series, known for its overwhelming sense of volume and high satisfaction, has unveiled two new merchandise items themed after the popular anime "My Hero Academia"—"Izuku Midoriya THE BEGINNING" and "Katsuki Bakugo THE BEGINNING." In this article, we will first introduce collectors to Izuku Midoriya THE BEGINNING, scheduled for release as a prize figure in September 2026!
"My Hero Academia" is a manga series by Kohei Horikoshi, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2014 to 2025. It tells the story of an era where everyone possesses superpowers called "Quirks," and follows the Quirkless protagonist Izuku Midoriya, who inherits the "One For All" Quirk from the number one hero All Might, as he grows at U.A. High, the top hero academy, and strives to become the greatest hero alongside his comrades.
This Izuku Midoriya THE BEGINNING figure stands approximately 22 cm tall. It is sculpted based on the scene from the end of anime Episode 161, "The End of an Era, and the Beginning," and Episode 162, "Great Demon Lord!!," where a defeated Armored All Might is about to be executed by All For One, and a reawakened Bakugo and Midoriya make eye contact. It recreates Midoriya's airborne pose during his battle with Shigaraki, with intricate sculpting that captures the wrinkles and damaged details of his battle suit, and his hero support items are also meticulously reproduced! The hair features multi-layered paintwork to show the subtle reflection in his eyes when his Quirk is activated, combined with an expression on his face that conveys a glimmer of hope amidst anxiety, perfectly recreating his appearance from the series. It definitely needs to be displayed alongside the simultaneously released Bakugo to recreate that iconic scene!
