Receiving financial support from both China and Japan, the emerging toy brand "EMONTOYS", established in 2015, will release a chibi-style collectible figure of one of the BOSS characters from the video game "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice", created by renowned producer Hidetaka Miyazaki – the foster father, "Great Shinobi Owl" (大忍び 梟), on March 31, 2023!
The action game "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice" (SEKIRO: Shadow Die Twice), released in 2019 by the renowned game company From Software, known for developing "Dark Souls" and "Elden Ring," is famous for its high difficulty. Initially modeled after the classic game "Tenchu" as a sequel, it later evolved into an action game primarily focused on sword combat and parrying, offering a distinct experience compared to their own Souls-like games. Despite its high difficulty, it attracted many players to challenge it, ultimately earning the Game of the Year award in that year.
In Sekiro, the Great Shinobi Owl is the foster father of the protagonist, Wolf. Originally named "Ukonsaemon Usui," he was a masterless wandering shinobi who found the orphaned Wolf during the Sengoku War and raised him to adulthood. Though believed to have died three years prior at the Hirata Estate (which was a feigned death), he unexpectedly reappeared before Wolf three years later, forcing Wolf to make a choice (a branching path) in pursuit of the Dragon's Heritage. He is tall, wields a great katana, and is skilled in using illusions and various projectile attacks.
This "Great Shinobi Owl" chibi-style collectible figure from EMONTOYS stands approximately 13 cm tall (including the base). Its design is inspired by his encounter with Sekiro at Ashina Castle, specifically the moment after negotiations break down, when he subtly draws his sword, preparing to lunge forward for a fatal blow from behind. The pose captures a sense of speed, just like in the game, making it quite distinctive. Fans of Sekiro should definitely consider adding this to their collection.
