Japanese renowned game developer SQUARE ENIX's 6-inch action figure series, "Bring Arts", is set to release a three-dimensional action figure of "Maria Balthasar" and "Chu-Chu", two of the main protagonists' companions from their classic masterpiece "Xenogears", originally released in 1998. The release is scheduled for December 2023.
The game "Xenogears" was released in February 1998. Initially proposed by renowned producer Tetsuya Takahashi in 1995, it originally had the potential to be a sequel to the classic RPG "Final Fantasy" series, but it was later decided to develop it as a new, independent game. The game's background story is incredibly grand and expansive, spanning tens of thousands of years and divided into multiple chapters. The unique human-gear combat system in the game was also beloved by many players. Due to the initial sales not meeting the set targets and resources being diverted during the later stages of game development, leading to a significant difference in gameplay experience, SQUARE ENIX did not release an official sequel. Tetsuya Takahashi later left to NAMCO to release "Xenosaga". For many years, this title has remained one of the SQUARE ENIX works that many fans hope to see remade.
Maria Balthasar (マリア・バルタザール) is the pilot of the Gear "Seibzehn" (ゼプツェン) in the game. As a child, she and her parents were captured by the Solarians. After her father, Nikola, used all his strength to help her escape, she has continuously sought to return and find her parents, fighting against the Solarians. Despite being only 13 years old, she is remarkably mature and composed. Chu-Chu (チュチュ) is a girl from the Wels race, with a seemingly cute animal appearance, but possesses the ability to grow to a giant size. She becomes flustered around handsome men.
This BRING ARTS release of Maria and Chu-Chu faithfully recreates their in-game appearances with beautiful sculpting. Maria stands approximately 11 cm tall and includes articulated hand parts, interchangeable crossed-arm parts, and two facial expressions (normal and smiling). Her hairstyle and articulation are also very dynamic. A display stand is also included. Chu-Chu stands approximately 7 cm tall, with articulated leg joints, allowing her to be posed standing or sitting.
