From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division, the SD Gundam model kit series 'SD Gundam CROSS SILHOUETTE', which allows for free transformation between high and low head-to-body ratios, today announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury", the "Calibarn Gundam", scheduled for release on June 29, 2024.
The X-EX01 Calibarn Gundam is a prototype GUND-type mobile suit developed by the Vanadis Institute. After losing to Lfrith in the bidding phase, all development files were deleted. The remaining prototype was seized and sealed by the Space Assembly League during the Vanadis Incident 21 years ago. This unit is equipped with a "Variable Rod Rifle" featuring four thrusters, giving it the appearance of a witch with a broom. Lacking a Data Storm filter and completely disregarding pilot safety, it earned the moniker "Monster".
The "SDCS Calibarn Gundam" recreates the full body armor design in SD proportions. It includes both a low-head SD frame and a high-head CS frame for free interchangeability. The eye stickers offer a choice between the classic cute SD Gundam eyes and the normal green twin-eye cameras from the original series. The Permet Score glowing parts on the head antenna, shoulders, chest, and thighs can be represented using stickers and interchangeable parts, allowing for selection between non-glowing matte black parts, the red glow state of a normally activated Permet Score, and the rainbow glow state that surpasses Permet Score 8.
For weaponry, it includes the witch's broom-like dedicated weapon "Variable Rod Rifle", two "Beam Saber hilts", and a "Shield". The four thrusters at the rifle's tail can open and close, and the shield can be disassembled into GUND-Bits to be mounted on various parts of the body, recreating the "Bit on Form".
